Warsaw trips & Becoming a Polish Master!

IMG_1952Cześć! Jak tam?!

So the beginning of this week, we had a leadership training meeting in Warsaw, so we got to take a 4 hour train, sleep over in Warsaw, and go to the meeting the next day… BUT once we were in Warsaw, Siostra Jenkins was feeling too sick to go, so the morning of the meeting we ended up having a temporary exchange and I got to go with Siostra Johnson and it was so fun!!

Once we got back to Lublin, Siostra Jenkins was still feeling way sick so we went to the doctor and she found out she has bronchitis and we had to stay in the apartment until she wasn’t contagious anymore… long story short, we’ve been in our apartment for 4 days straight! While she’s been resting, I’ve stayed busy with a lot of scripture study, practicing hymns on the ukulele,  reading Jesus the Christ (I love that book!), and SO MANY hours of language study… but hey, I’m a few steps closer to being a Polish master! 😉  The last couple days have been a kind of weird change of pace, and it makes me appreciate getting to go out and talk to people about the gospel that much more! One more exciting thing this week: as of tomorrow, I’m finished being trained!

Yesterday I was practicing “Come thou Fount of Every Blessing.” The lyrics of the first verse read,

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing

Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love

I especially love the last couple of lines! They remind me a lot of one of my favorite scriptures in Helaman:

12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind,  yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation   whereon if men build they cannot fall.” (Helaman 5:12)

When we make Christ our mount, our rock, and our foundation, we can find comfort and strength to overcome our challenges. He loves and cares so deeply about each one of us, and He WILL help us succeed!

I am so grateful for this gospel. I hope you have a wonderful week! Kocham was!
