Street Life in Scottsdale

Hello Familia, this week has been a spiritual week for me. My purpose as a missionary is to teach gospel principles and bring people closer to Christ. In an effective lesson, both the teacher and the student grow. When we don’t have people to teach, then our job is to find them. We decided to street contact near our mission boundary. Our outing turned into a wonderful experience.

As we were street contacting, we ran into this young guy who was fishing off the pier. We walked up to him and introduced ourselves. He started saying that he doesn’t agree on how missionaries are treated—they are not treated like regular people. We agreed with him and shared that we experience challenging moments every single day we are out here, and that’s why it’s tough. We finished our conversation with him, and we continued walking.

We saw a lady who was sitting alone and decided to walk up to her. As we began talking to her, she shared how she was feeling:  “HEY guys! Thanks for coming to talk to me. I felt alone and am glad you guys showed up.” She continued to talk about how The Church of Jesus Christ has helped her daughter, and how the members have been there for her. We continued talking for some time and I considered what I could say to her that would be helpful. We continued talking for some time and I felt the desire to give her a Book of Mormon. We shared Mosiah 7:33 which says:

“But if ye will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, and put your trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of bondage”.

We explained that the Lord puts us through trials and that He will not take them from us, but He will help us endure them if we ask in prayer for His help.  I told her: “We have this fresh copy of The Book of Mormon, and we would like to give it to you.”   She took it and said she was grateful. We invited her to read Mosiah 7 and to pray about it.

I am grateful for the mission experience I have had so far. Although–every day–I think of my dog and wish he was right next to me, I know why I am out here and that the work of the Lord must move on.  I have loved being out here learning and growing my Testimony of Jesus Christ. I have made great life- long friends and hope to make many more because of the faith and hope I’ve had so far in Jesus Christ. Thank you all so very much for everything you have done for me. I pray for each of you. I hope this week is a blast and can’t wait to see you guys soon. Stay Safe and Talk soon. BUENE SUERTE MIS AMIGOS!!! ❤💙💜
