Between the Carpathian Mountains and the Baltic Sea in the enchanting land of Copernicus, Chopin, and Mickiewicz, there lives a marvelous and innovative Polish people who have fought valiantly for more than a thousand years to preserve their cultural identify and way of life. From far across the seas comes a Mexican American young lady – a triathlete, a tri-musician, and an aspiring tri-linguist who has traded two years of college studies for the privilege and opportunity to minister in the name of Christ by serving, loving, and learning from the Polish people. This is her journey.

“God Be With You Till We Meet Again”

    Hejka kochani!

This is my last missionary blog and the end of my full-time mission in Poland.

A few days ago, we found out my original flight home on April 7 had been canceled due to airport closures. However, the US embassy in Warsaw found me another flight! I will be flying into Chicago on Tuesday and then to Dallas on Wednesday πŸ™‚ As I leave Poland, I leave a wonderful country that like the rest of the world continues to take extreme measures to contain the COVID-19 virus. As of today, there are 2,311 confirmed cases and 33 deaths.

This last special week of the mission has been amazingβ€”although we were inside, we continued meeting and teaching people every day through Skype and Facebook. I am so grateful for technology!

It’s been such a dream and a privilege to get to be a missionary in Poland! I will be eternally grateful for my time here, and the wonderful people I have met, taught and served with. I feel just like Jacob in the Book of Mormon when he says: “the time passed away with us, and also our [mission] passed away like as it were unto us a dream.” (Jacob 7:26) That is what the mission has been for me. It has gone by so fast!

The biggest thing I have gained from serving a mission is an absolute knowledge that Jesus Christ lives and that He loves each one of us individually and perfectly. I know that He wants to have a personal relationship with each one of us! I know our Heavenly Father has a perfect plan for us, and I know that everything happens for a reason. There are no coincidences. We are in each other’s lives for a reason! I know Jesus Christ is our best friend, if we want Him to be. If we allow Him to be! Through Him and by Him we can receive a fullness of joy. I know that He wants us to find lasting happiness and peace. With Him at our side, we can overcome challenges and find peace in the midst of every trial. His promises to us remain the sameβ€”He says: “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14:18)

During the last couple days, I’ve been reading through 3rd Nephi, where Jesus visits the people in the Americas. I love chapter 17, verse 21:

And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.”

One by one, He ministered to the people there, and one by one He ministers to us. ❀️

I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon! I testify that the Book of Mormon is the word of God; that as we read it alongside the Bible, we can find answers to so many questions. The Book of Mormon brings such a special spirit, and I find great peace when I read. If you ever have any questions or would want to read together and talk about it, please let me know! πŸ™‚ I love this book!!!

I also testify that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that through him the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored as it was originally when Christ was on the earth. I am so grateful for a living prophet, President Russell M. Nelson who leads and guides the Church under the direction of God❀️ I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen to him during this next weekend! I am excited for the insights we’ll gain. President Nelson’s promise 6 months ago that this conference will be different than any other has already been fulfilled! I can’t wait to see what’s next πŸ™‚ You can watch conference at churchofjesuschrist.org on Saturday and Sunday.

I have loved being a missionary. I am so grateful for each and every experience!!! Thank you dearly for all of the support and love :)) kocham was! Do zobaczenia wkrΓ³tce!

    Hejka czeΕ›Δ‡ friend and family!

You may have heard that recently a lot of missionaries are being sent home. We’re still hanging on over here in Poland! We are just one of a couple missions in Europe where missionaries haven’t been sent home as of yet.

Like the rest of the world, our life and work in Poland has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. As of today, there have been 749 cases confirmed with 8 deaths. This increase in infections is following very well the geometric progression model that predicts a doubling of the infection rate every 4 days. It remains to be seen when Poland will flatten the infection growth curve. But things are pretty locked down now.

As missionaries, we’re still allowed to go outside and get fresh air, but we aren’t allowed to street contact or proselyte. Right now, our missionary work is all online. Despite the fact that our normal missionary schedule has totally changed over the last few weeks, great things are still happening. The message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ brings so much hope and peace–something that is so needed at this time. ❀️

This week I also hit my 18-month mark as a missionary. These last 18 months of representing Jesus Christ here have been an absolute privilege and I am excited for the couple of weeks I have left. I love this Gospel! I love the joy it brings. I saw an inspiring quote this week that I wanted to share with you:

“Sometimes the Savior calms the storm.

Sometimes He lets the storm rage and He calms you.”

And it’s so true! Even when the world is full of crazy events and things we don’t really understand, we can find the peace and comfort we need in our Savior and in His promises to us.

Our Savior, our best friend, our example and our strength❀️

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matt 11:28-30)

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;” (Isaiah 41:10)

I love you all! Ε»yczΔ™ wam zdrowia!!! Kocham was!

    Hejka czeΕ›Δ‡ friends and family!

In one week, so much has changed and so here are some updates on missionary life in Poland and the effects of the corona virus:

As of today, there are around 150 known Covid-19 cases in Poland with 3 deaths, but drastic measures have been taken pretty early on to slow the spread of the disease. Despite the precautions, the number of cases is starting to grow exponentially though as of this week the numbers are still relatively low considering Poland has a population of 38 million people. As of a couple days ago, schools, museums, theaters, and malls are all closed for two weeks. The governors of different cities have encouraged everyone to stay home. Travel in and out of Poland has been banned and international flights have been suspended for the next 10 days. No trains are currently going west to Germany or east to Ukraine. A few days ago, President Trump also banned any foreigners from Europe from entering the US- however, the ban does not apply to US citizens. The situation is changing daily so what I share today may be much different in a couple of days.

For us missionaries, it currently means that although we are not in lock-down yet, we have a 2-week food supply just in case that becomes necessary. Currently we are not allowed to tract, street contact, teach English class, or hold any group meetings. But we are allowed to work on Facebook and keep having skype lessons πŸ™‚

For me, the plan is still that I will come home to Texas in early April. When I cross the border, I’ll be screened for coronavirus and regardless of the results of the screening, I will at a minimum be self-quarantined in Texas for 14 days (unless something changes before then).

During the initial panic last week regarding the growing pandemic, many of the grocery stores were emptied of a lot of food; as of today, the stores have mostly restocked and this morning there was plenty of food, medicines, and (maybe most importantly) toilet paper!

During this confusing time when the situation changes daily and nothing really seems certain, where can we turn for peace?

The lyrics of one of my favorite hymns comes to mind:

Where can I turn for peace?

    Where is my solace

When other sources cease to make me whole?

When with a wounded heart, anger, or malice,

    I draw myself apart,

    Searching my soul?

    Where, when my aching grows,

    Where, when I languish,

Where, in my need to know, where can I run?

Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish?

    Who, who can understand?

    He, only One.

    He answers privately,

    Reaches my reaching

In my Gethsemane, Savior and Friend.

Gentle the peace he finds for my beseeching.

    Constant he is and kind,

    Love without end.

In a chaotic world full of daily changes and imperfect people, Jesus Christ is a constant. He is constantly there–our loving older brother who wants the very best for us. During this uncertain time, I have received a lot of strength from the knowledge that no matter what is happening in the world, His promise to us is the same–PEACE.

I also have a strong testimony that faith and prayer are powerful. When we have faith and we act on it, we open the door for God to work miracles in our lives. That doesn’t just mean we can sit back and do nothingβ€”but rather that when we work together with God, we can achieve more than we ever could alone.

I hope you all have a wonderful, happy, and safe week! Wash your hands often, take this time inside to learn a new skill or read a good book, and tell someone you love them. I love you all!

    This week:

-Had an awesome Zone Conference in Warsaw all about family history πŸ™‚ It’s so true that as we learn about our ancestors, we learn more about ourselves! And of course, missionary work is done on both sides of the Veil [Dad note: the word ‘veil’ is a metaphor used to illustrate the physical and spiritual separation between the living and the deceased]!

-Started teaching someone we met on the train πŸ™‚ She’s so awesome, keeps her commitments to read the book of Mormon and pray daily, and is just a ray of sunshine!!!

-Got lectured about politics for 40 minutes on a train ride to a lesson. During the whole thing I was wishing I couldn’t understand it haha

-Climbed up to the top of St Mary’s Basilica in GdaΕ„sk today! After a 400-stair climb, the view was absolutely gorgeous!

To close, I want to share a scripture from 2 Timothy 1:7-

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Our God is always with us! We never have to be afraid of what the future will bring, because He is by our side. His promise to us is that He will not leave us comfortless or alone, but that He will be with us through everything. I testify that His promise is true for you! ❀️

    Hello dearest friends and family❀️

    This week:

    • There are no coincidences! God will put the right people in your path at the right time. I absolutely saw that this week πŸ™‚
    • Our friend Łukasz from Katowice came to visit!!! It was such a highlight of the week to see him!
    • A new senior missionary coupleβ€”the Johnsonsβ€”have moved to GdaΕ„sk! We were all so sad to say goodbye to Elder & Sister Bridges a few weeks ago, but it was wonderful to get to meet Elder & Sister Johnson this week. They are amazing!
    • We got transfer calls! Siostra Frantz and I are staying in GdaΕ„sk :))) And another Siostra, Siostra Littlefield is coming to join us from Warsaw so we’ll be a trio! We are so excited!
    • -Went to Auchan (a big store kind of like a super target) with the Johnsons this week.. I was a little bit shook being in such a big store haha!

To close, I wanted to share a thought I loved from Sunday school yesterday. It was that the seemingly boring, slow moments in our life are part of the glorious plan our Father in Heaven has for us. We may not realize it in the moment, but these experiences are shaping us into the people HE created us to be.

That really resonates with me! Every little thing we do sculpts us as people. Whether it’s choosing to be patient and kind, remembering and showing our gratitude for our blessings, doing small or big acts of service or any other good thing, it all adds up for our good. God will bless us for it!

Hejka czeΕ›Δ‡ my dearest friends and family!!! ❀️

    This week:

    – Met Ivonna from Argentina at a finding activity!!! We approached her in polish but when we heard her say ”no hablo polaco” we switched into Spanish! We asked her if she’d ever heard of El Libro de Mormon and turns out she used to  go to church in Argentina:) she’s the coolest!

    – this week has really been one full of languages because in an effort to invite more people to english class, we’ve been posting on Ukrainian Facebook pages! Since Ukraine and Poland border each other there are a lot of Ukrainians that live in Poland! 7 new people were in class this week and one of the couples came to church:))

    – Got lost in a hospital complex on our way to deliver a Book of Mormon… But we made the delivery!!

    – Got proposed to.. TWICE

    – Got hit by a car. Basically here at most crosswalks there is no light–the pedestrians usually have the right of the way. So once you start walking on the crosswalk the cars will stop for you. This time though the driver wasn’t paying attention and although he was going reallllly slow he didn’t stop and actually hit Siostra Frantz and I!! He felt so bad about it but we were totally fine haha!

    – Church was super great and busy as always:) So many people were there!! Someone even asked: “Why are there so many people here? Is it a special occasion?” It wasn’t a special occasion, just an awesome Sunday! The GdaΕ„sk branch is growing!!! :))

    – Taught Relief Society. It was awesome because we had a few people who only spoke Russian there but Siostra Marinella, our Relief Society President speaks both Polish and Russian and so she translated for us:) We focused on Elder Bednar’s address from this last conference, “Watchful unto Prayer Continually”. I would absolutely recommend it! ❀️

    And lastly I want to share a scripture–Ether 12:11-

” But in the gift of his Son hath God prepared a more excellent way; and it is by faith that it hath been fulfilled.”

There is a lot of happiness to be found in this life. Without a knowledge of Jesus Christ and his gospel, life can be okay. But our loving Father in Heaven doesn’t just want us to have an okay life – He’s got greater plans for us! That’s why He gave us his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is The More Excellent Way – the way to find more happiness, peace and direction in this life than in any other way possible. He is our advocate, our loving brother and He can be our best friend, if we let Him. If we want Him to be. I am so grateful for that and for the perfect plan Heavenly Father has for each one of us!

Hejka czeΕ›Δ‡ friends and family! These last couple weeks:

-Our friend Adam got baptized! It has been so cool to see his progress as he has prepared for baptism the last couple months πŸ™‚

-Got to visit the SolidarnoΕ›Δ‡ museum! The Solidarity movement is all about the Polish protests against communism behind the Iron curtain from the 50’s all the way to the late 80’s. It was especially cool to also learn about the protests that were also going on in Hungary (where my dad served his mission) at the same time. After visiting the museum I am even more in awe of the people here. The Polish people are AMAZING!!

-Lots of talking to people on the street the last couple weeks πŸ™‚ we’ve had some awesome conversations. I’ve been especially proud of Siostra Frantz–she is fearless and has such a powerful testimony!

-Got the first door slammed in our faces in a while(we mostly street contact here haha)

-Taught Sunday school with 5 minutes notice! The members in GdaΕ„sk are so awesome and we had a great discussion on the symbolism of Lehi’s tree of life vision in the Book of Mormon πŸ™‚

To close, I want to share a quote I’ve loved this week! It says,

“Our perfect Father in Heaven does not expect us to be perfect children yet. He had only one such child. Meanwhile, therefore, sometimes with smudges on our cheeks, dirt on our hands, and shoes untied, stammeringly but smilingly we present God with a dandelion–as if it were an orchid or a rose! If for now the dandelion is the best we have to offer, He receives it, knowing what we may later place on the altar. It is good to remember how young we are spiritually. “

As much as we study and grow and experience everyday in this life, we are still so young spiritually. I think that’s one of the beautiful things about life–our Father in Heaven is fully aware that we won’t do everything perfectly and that we’ll make a lot of mistakes along the way! But that’s ok, because that’s part of His perfect plan for us. Because of Jesus Christ, we can repent every day and every day become a little bit better, a little bit more like the people that God knows we can become. And in the process, we start to find the peace and the happiness God has promised us!

Love you all!!! MiΕ‚ego tygodnia!! ❀️

    Hejka czeΕ›Δ‡ kochani!!!

These last few weeks have been such a whirlwind of fun and hard work πŸ™‚ I LOVE GdaΕ„sk!!!!!

    – We had our Christmas zone conference! We sang so many Christmas carols, had a great devotional and went to the Christmas light show at one of the castles in Warsaw. My absolute favorite part of conference though was when Prezydent Chandler sat down at the piano and casually played the most beautiful Christmas medley ever! He and Siostra Chandler are SO talented.

As part of the conference Siostra SjΓΆdin and I sang a duet in Swedish at the conference! We sang “Blott en Dag”, an absolutely beautiful hymn about taking things day by day and relying on the Lord through it all. Below is the English translation:

    – Learned how to make Czech cookies with NatΓ‘lie. She’s the BEST

    – Christmas Eve (Wigilia) was amazing. We celebrated with members in the branch, the Bridges, and the Elders and it couldn’t have been better! We had more than the traditional 12 Christmas dishes, including Barszcz (delicious beet soup), ŚledΕΊ (pickled herring, a kind of fish), Moldovan salad, Carp, Carp in jello, and so many more! And of course, the polish tradition is that you have to try them all! It was definitely a meal I will never forget!!!

    – The Polish Catholic tradition is to go to mass at midnight the night of the 24th and we got to go! We were so tired but it was so much fun to stay up and go with our friend Martyna. We went to one of the really old churches in Oliwa GdaΕ„sk and it was the Archbishop’s church so he was there for the mass! We sang lots of carols and then listened to the prayers. One part of the mass that was cool was when the priest sang parts of the prayers and then everyone sang the responses back. It was so beautiful!

-This week we had exchanges with the Lublin Sister and they came to GdaΕ„sk! I got to be with Siostra Berrett all day and we had a blast! The elders in GdaΕ„sk were on exchanges too so all 8 missionaries, plus some of our awesome GdaΕ„sk friends joined us to carol in Old Town. Halfway through our singing it started ice raining, but we weren’t going to let that stop us! We went under a bridge and just kept on singing–and it was even better because it echoed all the way through Old Town! So many people stopped to talk to us and to take some video πŸ™‚

-Found out Ela, a friend who comes to Zupa every Saturday finished high school in Argentina and is fluent in Spanish so now we both have someone to practice with :))

-Got invited to a Jewish concert at the synagogue by someone we’re teaching to celebrate the last day of Hanukkah. We went, hoping it would be at least as good as Fiddler on the Roof and it was even better!!! πŸ˜‰

The Lord is with us through every experience. I can testify that He knows us personally, and that can continue to learn and grow even through our trials as we rely on our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Atonement of Jesus Christ isn’t just something that happened almost 2000 years ago–it affects you and me, every. single. day. Jesus Christ died for you personally, because He absolutely knows you and He knows the person you are capable of becoming. He is on our side!!! He wants us to be successful and happier than we can ever imagine!!! Because of him, we can find lasting peace in this life. When we are weak, we can find strength through him. When we are hopeless, we can find comfort and direction.

The Lord teaches us in D&C 121,

“… all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.

Therefore, hold on thy way; Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever.”

HE– all powerful, all loving God- is with us forever and ever! And with Him, NOTHING is impossible!

I also read a wonderful talk this week from this last general conference, called “Holiness and the Plan of Happiness” by President Eyring. I would definitely recommend it πŸ™‚ It’s a great talk to start the new year!

Thanksgiving was fantastic! Several members from the branch and so many of our friends in GdaΕ„sk came!

We got invited to present about our beliefs at a university class and it was amazing! The professor was so respectful and the students had a lot of good questions. Several of the students asked us afterwards for copies of the Book of Mormon! It was a great experience and a testament that there are people who are searching for the direction and knowledge the gospel brings–they just need to have it offered to them!

My favorite scripture this week is Mosiah 2:20-

“if you should render all the thanks and praise which your whole soul has power to possess, to that God who has created you, and has kept and preserved you, and has caused that ye should rejoice, and has granted that ye should live in peace one with another”

Because that is EXACTLY how I feel! I absolutely love being a missionary. I love teaching the restored gospel. I love learning new things every day. I love the scriptures, the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I love that they work together to testify of Jesus Christ, of His life and how thanks to Him, death is not the end! Families can be together forever! I love helping people develop a relationship with God, and I love the people of Poland with my entire heart. I absolutely love serving in GdaΕ„sk. I’m so grateful for this time the Lord has given me to get to share the most important and joy filled message in the world! ❀️

  • Hola a todos! This week went by so fast! Can you believe it? Christmas is around theΒ corner. Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ has been one of my all-time favorite holidays. It’s a beautiful time to celebrate joy and happiness in this life. I am so grateful for the opportunities givenΒ to me to serve a mission. In Preach My Gospel page 123, it states that hope is an abiding trust that the Lord will fulfill His promises to you. It is believing and expecting that something will occur. Hope helps conquer discouragement in this life.

2nd Nephi 31:20 says: Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

I testify that this scripture speaks the truth. If we press forward with a steadfastness in Christ and endure to the end, we will have eternal life in the life after! I love you all and I hope this message encourages each of you to share the gospel more often. ❀️  We are all on a team. I know the Lord loves each and every one of you! I The Book of Mormon is true and it changes lives.

    Love you all

  • [Left] No Rest for the Weary πŸ˜‚ [Right] Elder Stewart and Me

Hola a todos! This week was awesome! I prepared this week to receive my new Companion Elder Stewart. Elder Stewart is one of my favorite companions I have had on my mission. He loves the work and wants to help see it progress. I have learned a lot from him already. He has taught me how to dedicate myself more to the work by visiting and teaching as many people as we can throughout the day.

In Preach My Gospel, it states that missionaries should β€œteach in unity.” First quoting Doctrine and covenants 42:6: “Ye shall go forth in the power of my spirit, preaching my gospel, two by two.” And then finishing with a promise: β€œYour teaching will be more powerful and interesting if you and your Companion work together in unity”.

Last trio Pic with Elders Johnson and Graham before transfers

When we are unified in the work, it becomes much easier to us because both missionary companions know what the other is thinking and what should be said next. I invite you all to be unified in your families and continue to strive to become better.

I would also like to give a shout out to my little sister Eszter Galilee who will be turning 15 on Nov 29th 2022. She is awesome and is turning out to be a great Tennis Player. Eszter if you’re reading this, may God Bless you forever! I look forward to the day when I can give you a big hug.

    Happy Birthday Eszter! πŸ₯³πŸŽΎπŸŽˆ

Thank you all for your love and support towards me. I really need it. It is difficult out here without it. May God bless you all this week and protect each and every one of you as well!✌️❀️ 😎

    The Power of Unity

  • Hola a todos! This week was awesome. We have continued teaching our investigators Jordan and Alfredo. We are working hard trying to schedule with Anna because she is quite busy during the week. I have enjoyed my mission so far. It has been a journey with hard days and amazing spiritually uplifting days.

As we began to prepare for the transfer to end, I thought this area of Via Verde needs a lot of missionary work. So we tried our best at contacting and setting up as many lessons as possible with people in the area. Sadly as we know, most people don’t answer their doors. That’s where patience and faith in the Lord come into play. In Preach my Gospel on Page 63, it says that Heavenly Father blesses those who have faith to listen to and obey His son Jesus Christ.

I enjoy feasting upon the Words of Christ! I gain strength from my daily scripture study. This week, I was reminded of Nephi’s timeless counsel in 2nd Nephi 31:20:

“Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

By pressing forward with a steadfastness in Jesus Christ, we show Him that we have a desire to change and become more like Him. I am grateful for each one of you. I have reached this point in my mission because of all the letters I have received and advice I have been given. The Lord is my salvation! I am grateful to the Lord for his support and guidance. Alma 26:12 shares my perspective:

β€œYea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore, I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in His strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise His name forever.”

I know this scripture testifies of the truth I have been sharing for these two years! You are all awesome! Keep up the good work and I will see y’all in less than a year! Love you all and I hope these scriptures help any of those who might have been struggling this week.

Feasting Upon the Words of Christ

  • Hola amigos! This week was a blast! We have been teaching three friends in the Via Verde area. These three friends are awesome and very promising. We had a lesson with one of our friends Alfredo and he was so excited to meet with us. It occurred to me that when we had come to knock on his door Thursday last week, that we should return in 15 minutes because he was a bit busy with a phone call. When we came back, he invited us into his home where we sat down and began to talk.

While we were talking, he grabs his Bible and sets it in front of us on the small table in the living room. He tells us he loves the Bible and knows it is true. We then start talking about Jesus Christ and he says: “Hold on a sec. Let me go get another book.” We wait patiently for him as it is taught in Preach My Gospel page 126: β€œPatience is the capacity to endure delay, trouble, opposition, or suffering without becoming angry, frustrated or anxious. It is the ability to do God’s will and accept his timing.” As he makes his way back, he brings a Spanish Book of Mormon. 😲 😱 🀯 My companions and I are shocked at the amazing miracle that occurs then. He sits back down with the Book of Mormon and begins to open it and tells us that he has read all the way to Alma (halfway through an over 500-page scriptural book) with a page turned in for his favorite chapter.

He also tells us that he has been comparing the Bible to the Book of Mormon and that many other religions like Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses and others have tried telling him that what we share is not true and that we are not good people. This is where faith plays its roll. If you believe in Jesus Christ, then do as our friend has been doing and compare the Book of Mormon to the Bible and you will see for yourself that THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS is the restored church upon the face of this Earth. I testify that to be true. This is one of the biggest experiences I have had so far in my mission!  This experience helped build my testimony and shows that God is always watching over us. He is the Grand Leader in this work. Because of His son Jesus Christ, we can be clean of our mistakes and become better people.

There are days in the mission in which I think: β€œMan I wish I were home with My Dog Denali And family.” But then I think about the people out here who still need to hear the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Missions are difficult and consist of good growth and learning experiences. I am so grateful to have a chance to serve a mission at this time. I have enjoyed the friends I have made and I am excited for these next months. Thank you all for supporting me and encouraging me to endure to the end as it is taught in the scriptures that we must endure with a full purpose of heart unto God. May God be with you all until we meet again! πŸ™ ✌️ 😎 ❀️

God’s Word is Mightier than the Sword

  • Hola a todos!

This week was awesome. We have started bringing members to lessons. It is such a wonderful experience when a member testifies of the truth; that’s my favorite part of the lessons.  We are encouraged to invite our friends to share their understanding of the Gospel and help them learn more.  Also, we want to share activities with them where the Spirit is present so they can, on their own, learn about the truth through the Holy Ghost.

It is always nice to have a member invite the friends to a baptismal service so they can see what a baptism is like. It is always good to introduce your friend to the Bishop of the ward and make them feel welcomed.

    To help nourish our souls:

    – Missionaries should teach all the lessons before and after baptism, and members can be present to give love, support and share experiences.

    – Remind new converts and returning members of commitments they made before baptism and the covenant they made when they were baptized and confirmed during one on one interactions, family home evenings and other fun moments.

    – Encourage them to study the scriptures daily by studying with them using all available technology!

    – Continue to teach the importance of attending church each Sunday and worthily partaking of the sacrament.

All these ideas can help members aid the missionaries in the work of the Lord. This is the Lord’s work and only through him can we bring others unto Jesus Christ. I LOVE. MY SAVIOR. He has been there for me and my family. Thank you all for your support and care for me! May this week be a week of joy and happiness and may God bless each of you as I continue to serve him.

I love you all and will see you real soon!

    Cool Cars & Changing Lives

  • Hola a todos!

This week was stressful. We had a few lessons planned, but of all the people we tried visiting none of them answered their doors. It felt like it was Halloween and the doors were all haunted and wouldn’t open. It is difficult when no one has the desire to listen.

We have continued teaching Jordan about the principles of happiness. He is awesome! He has come to many of our English Connect classes and he has a desire to learn more about the Church. We invite people to come and learn English and this opportunity opens the door for us to introduce the Gospel.  Many people has been blessed by these English classes because in trying to learn a new language they have also learned the Gospel and and its truths.

    Scripture of the week:

” when you are filled with charity, you obey God’s commandments and do all you can to serve others and help them receive the restored Gospel”. This is so true.

In Moroni 7:48 in The Book of Mormon it says “But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him,”

Our goal is to be filled with this true charity, so when our time comes to meet the Lord, whether it is soon or at the second coming of Jesus Christ we can be prepared to kneel at His feet and worship Him.  Thanks for listening in! I hope this thought touched your hearts πŸ’•.

It is a great privilege to be here as an ambassador of the Lord Jesus Christ. I look forward to when I can look into my parents’ eyes and say to them: “Mom… Dad…. I did it”! I served the Lord for 2 years. Thank you for teaching me about Jesus Christ and his love for me and my family”.

You are all awesome, Terrific, and I love you all. ❀️

‘Buena Suerte esta Semana Familia! ✌️ ❀️ 😎

    Haunted Doors that Won’t Open

  • Hola a todos.

This week was an eventful week. We had a friend we are teaching come to English Connect Class. From his attitude I could see he really enjoyed it. Also, many of our Guatemalan friends we met while street contacting are learning Spanish as well. It is difficult to express In Spanish the things you want to teach sometimes, this is where the gift of tongues comes into play. I have seen many miracles in my mission with the use of the gift of tongues.  For example, a few days ago we were teaching a new friendβ€”Hugo. He has some things he is going through, and we as missionaries are there to help him solve those things by sharing perspectives and new ideas. With the help of the Holy Ghost we can communicate, even when our Spanish is not perfect.

Missionary work is not easy, you must learn to use your time wisely. As a missionary you are only out serving for 2 years and once those 2 years are up you return to normal life. What you learn here, CANNOT be learned anywhere else.

MY MISSION PRESIDENT SAID THIS ONCE: β€œIf you come out on a mission and you go through the mission with no changes, then you didn’t serve correctly. But if you serve, and learn, and grow, and let the mission go through you,  and you see that changed person in yourself once you get home, then you served correctly and to the best of your ability. LET THE MISSION change you.” I have come to learn that on a mission is where you grow the most. Everyday I spend at least 5 hrs talking to people in their homes or out on the street.

The Preach My Gospel instruction book page 143 states: “as you devote your time and attention to serving the Lord, leaving behind all other personal affairs, the Lord will bless you with increased strength, knowledge and testimony of the Restoration and of the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”. PMG Is one of the main missionary tools we use. It teaches us how to use time wisely, how to find people to teach and guides us through the 5 Lessons we as missionaries teach on a daily basis. I encourage each of you to continue working hard and to become disciples of Jesus Christ today. There are people out in this world that need to hear this message.

I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches the true gospel of Jesus Christ and that Jesus Is the Christ. I know that we are preparing this world for his second coming too. I know the Book Of Mormon is true with all my heart.

Thank you all for your continuous love and support. You are all fantastic people and I look forward to the day when we can see each other again. Have an awesome Week and see you all SOON!

    Blessings in Disguise

  • Hola a todos!

This week was super tough. Not very many Hispanics had a desire to listen to our message about the restored Gospel Of Jesus Christ this week.  It was difficult approaching many of them because they would ignore us and walk off, or they would listen to us, but they would not act on the invitation.

Change has continued to be on my mind. In order for YOU to change your life and be more dedicated to Jesus Christ YOU have to commit to follow his teachings.  The Word of Wisdom is one of the restored principles of the gospel that can bring peace and health. In Doctrine and Covenants 89:18-21 we learn about the blessings of following the Lords health code which that we must abstain of certain foods to be truly healthy and receive the blessings.

    18 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;

    19 And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;

20 And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint.

21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

I have seen a big difference in my life obeying the Word Of Wisdom. I feel my body and mind are stronger because of it. It makes it so much easier to play the sports I love: Pickleball, Basketball and Tennis. The Lord has given us these guidelines because he loves us so very much!  I don’t think of these teachings as rules I must follow. I think of them as protection barriers from the harmful worldly addictions like drugs, smoking, and vaping.

Testimony is one of the topics I really like. I learned more about is as I studied it in Preach my Gospel on Page 201 (Bear Testimony frequently)

In this section of Preach Gospel it states that we as missionaries must bear our testimonies of the Gospel Of Jesus Christ frequently throughout the lessons we teach. This is important because it invites the Spirit to testify of the truth. For your testimony to have convincing power, you must be sincere. You can also give witness that what your Companion has taught is from God.  BRIGHAM YOUNG WAS NOT BAPTIZED INTO THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEARNING ABOUT THE RESTORATION. DURING HIS FIRST YEAR HE LEARNED ALL HE COULD AND CONTINUED TO LEARN UNTIL HE FELT HE HAD FOUND THE TRUTH. It takes time for someone to come to a knowledge of what we are teaching is true.

These two teachings of Jesus Christ have helped me become a better person while I have been out serving a 2 yr mission. Most people who have served missions say: “Missions are hard but they are worth it!” I invite all young people who will be reading this to decide to serve a mission! It is the greatest experience of your whole entire life (so far) you will ever have. Take the chance while you have it!

Thank you all for the continuous support you have shown me. I am here because of all of you. For the family members who are serving missions or will be serving missions in the next few months β€œPress forward with a steadfastness in Christ” and MAY GOD BE WITH YOU TILL WE MEET AGAIN!

    LOVE YOU ALL  ✌️ ❀️ 😎

    Living Life to the Fullest

  • Hola a todos!

This week was tough, but very spiritually enlightening. We had a big Spanish cultural event on Oct 8th, and it was super fun. We had a lot of good food from different countries around the world. We also had dancing and invited many non-members to this event. I have to say many came and were pleased with the outcome. I enjoyed seeing the dancing and meeting new people. This event brought me back to the times my family would have wedding events. Spanish culture is so different from American culture!  Both wonderful!!  I especially loved seeing my mission president break out some sweet moves. He is a dancer! Watching him and his wife mingling with the members shows that the members of the church are happy people.  The Gospel allows us to share wonderful moments and make new memories.

This week in personal study I studied the new For The Strength Of Youth pamphlet. It has so many good pointers on how we, as young people, can make good choices in this life, and how we can stay out of trouble.

In the FOR THE STRENGTH OF YOUTH PAMPHLET WE LEARN THAT:

    1. JESUS CHRIST IS THE WAY TO ETERNAL JOY.

    2. YOU ARE A BELOVED SPIRIT CHILD OF GOD

    3. YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN TRUSTS YOU.

These three ideas found on pg 4 testify that we are on this earth for a reason and that these guidelines are here to guide us through this life to eventually one day return back to our Heavenly Father.

Mosiah 4:29-30 King Benjamin teaches the following principle:

29 And finally, I cannot tell you all the things whereby ye may commit sin; for there are divers ways and means, even so many that I cannot number them.

30 But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not.

What can you do to involve Christ more in your life?

    1. Pray morning, during meals and at bedtime.

    2. Read your scriptures ex. BOOK OF MORMON, BIBLE and ponder the messages both these books contain.

    3. Attend church each Sunday to partake of the sacrament and renew your covenants you have made with God.

These three actions will help you involve Christ in your life so much more! I have seen a big difference in my life as I have applied these three principles. Thank you for the love and support all of you have shown to me. I love serving a mission, and yes it is super difficult to be away from family for two years. I always remember the saying that goes like this: we as missionaries take two years out of our own lives away from our families to go out and search for those who would like to be with their families for eternity.

My mission has blessed me immensely and I have faith that it will continue to do so. I love each and every one of you and am looking forward to the time when I complete my mission honorably. But until then, my focus is on the work of the Lord!

    Thanks again.

    Love,

Dancing to the Rhythm of the Gospel

  • Hola a todos,

This past weekend we had the Semiannual General Conference of the church, and let me tell you that it was spiritual recharging. I noticed that many of the speakers spoke about the importance of not judging others for the choices they make. We are all God’s children.

I enjoyed hearing from our prophet president Russell M. Nelson during the various sessions of the conference.  These are a few of the highlights from his talk that spoke directly to me during the Sunday morning session.

    – “Yoking ourselves to Jesus Christ which means to give our whole heart to him”.

    – “Take Charge of your Testimony and don’t let it get polluted from others”.

    – Cherish and honor your Covenants

    – JESUS CHRIST OVERCAME THIS WORLD AND YOU CAN TOO!

    – He also shared the new Book Of Mormon Video of Jesus Christ coming to the inhabitants of the American continent. IT’S IN THE GOSPEL LIBRARY! πŸ™Œ

Also, I really enjoyed the talk from Elder Mark D Eddy. Some of the remarks that spoke to me are as follows:

    1. The Book Of Mormon Is A Survival Guide.

    2. Reflect on the Lord’s grace.

    3. Seek to cut through the adversary’s tactics.

    4. He also shared that the virtue of the word of God is His Son Jesus Christ.

Both of those speakers were top notch!

I hope y’all enjoyed this weekend of General Conference. I look forward to the Day of Christ’s second coming, when the Earth 🌎 will praise and honor, and bow at his feet.

Thanks for all you do for me. I love you and I hope this weekly letter touches some of your hearts. I also hope that as a result of you reading this letter you will want to make a change in your life. Thanks again wonderful family and friends!

    Until next week!!!!  ✌️ 😎 ❀️
